More about Jane

  • 28 years' experience
  • Female
  • Psychologist

Hello! I'm Dr. Jane Barton and I'm a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Tennessee. I received my doctorate and masters degrees from Oklahoma State University with special concentration in cognitive behavioral therapy and couples therapy. I have more than 25 years of experience working in the mental health field and have helped people with a wide variety of concerns including depression, grief and loss, anxiety, phase of life issues, trauma, divorce, addictions and many others.

My role as your therapist is to empower you to change in a way that leads to a more meaningful, healthy and satisfying life. At best, life can be incredibly challenging. At worst, life events can be very painful. It can be easier to go through difficult times with someone who can help you to believe in yourself. One of my specialties is assisting people in looking at their thinking and their beliefs, and exploring how these may be untruths or dysfunctional. How we think is extremely powerful. Changing how we think and changing our dysfunctional beliefs about the world and ourselves can be healing and liberating. A guide and a partner in the process of change can be invaluable. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy and in helping people overcome cognitive roadblocks to achieving their hopes and dreams. You've taken a big step in looking for help and I'd love to walk with you on this journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
