More about Jeanne

  • 15 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW, LMSW, LISW

My name is Dr. Jeanne Assinthe, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Supervisor, and Doctor of Social Work dedicated to transforming how we approach mental health and healing. With over 15 years of experience, my work is driven by a profound commitment to decolonizing trauma-informed care and making it more accessible, equitable, and effective for Black, Brown, and other historically marginalized communities.

My approach to healing is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: true recovery must honor the whole person—their identity, their history, their community, and their culture. I don't just treat symptoms; I work to address the root causes of trauma, including the enduring impacts of colonialism, systemic oppression, and intergenerational pain. This is why I've developed frameworks like the Empowering Families Program, which integrates ancestral wisdom, liberation psychology, and community-led interventions to support families in breaking cycles of harm.

My leadership journey is shaped by a blend of direct clinical practice and systems-level strategy. As the Founder and CEO of Amitie Wellness, Inc., I've built an organization that provides a wide spectrum of services, from ketamine-assisted therapy and cultural healing circles to organizational equity audits and policy advocacy. I am a published author, a certified trainer, and a trusted partner for agencies, nonprofits, and health systems seeking to elevate their care and build more culturally responsive programs. I am particularly proud of my work in developing training programs and providing qualified supervision to nurture the next generation of culturally competent clinicians.

Whether I am speaking at a conference, supervising a clinician, or working directly with a family, my core principles are always the same: collaboration, empowerment, and a deep respect for the resilience and wisdom that already exists within individuals and communities. I believe in meeting people where they are, in honoring their lived experiences, and in working alongside them to reclaim their power and write their own stories of healing.

Ultimately, my mission is to help create a world where mental health care is a site of liberation, not just symptom management; a space where every individual and family can not only recover but thrive on their own terms. I am honored to be part of this vital work.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I have actually already shared my therapists name and this link with 3 friends, I absolutely love the therapy I’m getting and appreciate so much how Jeanna checks in with me, sends me reminders and truly cares about me!! The other day during therapy she was entertaining my child while I meditated and that just truly stood out as someone who cares!! I’d refer her to anyone I know struggling.

Such a kind, mindful, skilled, and educated woman. You’ll know what I’m talking about once you start chatting with her. She made me feel better from the start. Without even working on the actual therapy yet. But it turns out that just having my emotions being validated, is such a helpful aspect of therapy in itself. She really gets you thinking in the right ways that don’t hurt you, and are effective to your development through healing and recreating a better life for yourself. I’m so glad I matched with her! I can’t wait to see how much more I will be learning and growing from my experience with her!
