More about Sean

  • 5 years' experience
  • Male
  • LICSW

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington. I have been working in the field of behavioral health for more than 10 years. Much of my experience has been working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, and co-occurring substance dependence. I also have extensive experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental differences, and people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

For individuals facing LGBTQ+ stressors and issues, I have personal lived experience including navigating gender affirming healthcare.

I believe in a strengths-based approach that is client centered and trauma informed. I will work with you to identify your goals, passions, and natural supports to use them in assisting you in feeling better and maintaining wellness. It is my experience that the best results come when a therapist and client work as a team, focusing on specific goals. It is the therapeutic alliance that yields healing and movement towards accomplishing goals.

It's been my experience and observation that feeling better is often a matter of learning and practicing new skills and habits, such as setting healthy boundaries; connecting with others; and learning how to soothe yourself when distressed, and turn down that dial of overwhelm when needed.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
