My counselling journey started in Sydney, Australia in 2009. Whilst there I trained to become a telephone counsellor for Lifeline, a national charity. Once back on home soil in England I gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling & also a University Certificate in Counselling, both from South Cheshire College & validated by Manchester Metropolitan University.
I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society, and I am bound by their framework for ethics & good practice.
I take my continual professional development seriously and attend several workshops & training days each year to improve and enhance my knowledge & skills.
I undertook my placement work at Reaseheath College near Nantwich where I counselled young people, supporting them with a range of issues. I have also worked as a school counsellor for Brine Leas High School in Nantwich, supporting students in the middle school and sixth form through issues such as course work stress, bullying, peer group difficulties & family issues.
I have also worked & volunteered for The Dove Service which is a bereavement charity based in Stoke-on-Trent, offering support to those who are bereaved and affected by life changing illness.
These days I solely see clients in my private practice in Nantwich, who have either ‘self-referred’, having decided to seek counselling, or have been ‘sign posted’ from their GP or other recommendation.
I have a special interest in Anxiety Management & helping clients learn & develop techniques to manage their anxiety.
I see adults and teenager/ grown up children at my private practice in Nantwich. My training and experience allows me to support clients wishing to work on any issue & my training was based on the ‘Person-Centred’ approach. I also offer clients telephone video call appointments which must be booked in the usual way as face to face sessions.
Whilst my approach is underpinned by my Person-Centred training, I also like to work adaptively with clients, as individuals and am able to offer the following as part of the sessions if I feel it may be beneficial:
Certain issues such as Anxiety, Depression or Anger can sometimes benefit from ‘CBT’ (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Relaxation & Breathing Techniques, Mindfulness & Meditation. Hypnotherapy (Post Graduate Certificate in Integrating Hypnotherapy with Psychotherapy- Level 7. Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy. Dr Jonathan Lloyd.
I like to endeavour to deliver these helpful strategies in a person-centred way, and discuss them with my clients as ‘something they might like to try’, or a ‘suggestion’, rather than ‘this is what they need to go away and work on between now & the next session !’
Please see my pages on this site to learn more about CBT, Mindfulness & Relaxation & Person-Centred Therapy and how they can help with Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Stress & Negative Thinking.
While I’m not counselling I enjoy spending quality time with close friends and family. I have 2 grown up children who have now flown the nest, so my beloved 12 year old dog Leo is my best mate.. he also loves keeping feet warm and snoring in the counselling room if allowed!
“I believe in the client’s ability to find their answers and inner peace as an outcome of our work together.”

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Overall rating:
Very helpful and professional
Sarah is very kind, she listens with compassion and creates a safe space to explore your emotions and anxieties.
Sarah is a fantastic listener and has really helped me already in a short space of time over the few sessions we have had. She asks questions that makes me think for myself about what I am going through and how/why things are the way they are. She doesn't judge, doesn't impress her own opinions upon anything we talk about and is very easy to talk to.
Very pleasant, professional and helpful; had a great time working with Sarah, and managed to make a lot of personal progress in very short time, all the while consistently maintaining interesting conversations. Definitely recommend!
