More about Helen

Before becoming a therapist 8 years ago, I had been in the corporate world juggling alongside my career other duties such as motherhood, being a partner, difficult family dynamics and friendships. None of these responsibilities ever really included looking after me. For many years I continually people pleased through a deep rooted fear of rejection, abandonment, loneliness, judgement, the unknown, it was all rooted in childhood trauma that had caused low self worth, substance abuse, emotional and physical self harm, and attracting toxic relationships. I will never claim to say I know everything from these experiences but I can truthfully say I can relate to how you may feel. The energy I provide my clients with is that of a guide, here to be with you on your journey. I'm not here to tell you want to do or give advice but to support you in developing your own awareness of who you really are, to find a level of inner peace, acceptance, forgiveness and trust yourself to direct you in ways that are empowering. I truly believe we all have an inner guide or personal therapist (whatever you prefer to call it) inside ourselves, we just need to find it, trust it and know we are enough. We often become burdened by what others think and how we are perceived which then leaves us little time and energy to focus on what is really important for us.

As an integrative holistic therapist I use a range of approach's to support my clients. As a person who is highly sensitive with an has an interest in the unseen, some of the work I do with clients if they are drawn to this is connecting with metaphysical concepts and quantum perspectives that can be insightful in being able to explain deeper feelings and knowing when words just can't be found at that time. As I believe we are all unique, trying to use one method for all just does not work in order to reconnect with the many parts that make you whole. I am a big fan of psychodynamic viewpoints given we repeat what we do not repair. Although it comes in many disguises it always falls back to the same root causes. Our damaging patterns hold the truth to what continues to cause us pain and suffering but it is also the gateway to our potential. Some we are aware of and some we are not but it is purely the awareness that gives us choice about how we wish to live and whom we wish to become. As adults we sometimes don’t realise that we look through the eyes of our broken inner child. We eventually reflect back on those choices as harmful, dangerous or detrimental begin to wonder why that was.

My style is open, inviting, empathetic and compassionately challenging. We find our truth in the shadows that are subconscious mind holds and I believe we all have the potential to be the very best version of ourselves and in turn we also enhance other lives through our own self love and understanding. I work with clients on a global scale from different cultures, religions and situations including some who have been exposed to war. I have worked in high schools and universities to provide emotional wellbeing support to students and also taught mature students in their ambitions to become qualified counsellors. As a trained hypnotherapist I help clients access information through their subconscious mind to understand their Inner child, parts of themselves they have rejected and regression to past lives.

My professional credentials include a postgraduate Diploma from Leeds Beckett University and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), an accredited Practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) and a level 2 Reiki Practitioner.

My previous career was as an Engineer and Project Manager within the private and public sector therefore I am familiar with the effects of mental health within the workplace and the demands and pressures people put on themselves to achieve.

I work with clients ages 11 and up.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
