About Me:
I am an Integrative and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and professionals.
I work internationally with clients from diverse backgrounds, offering a compassionate, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space to explore emotional challenges, relationships, identity, and life transitions.
How I Work:
My approach is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in understanding the deeper causes of distress, not only the symptoms. Together, we explore patterns, experiences, and relationships that shape how you feel, think, and respond to the world.
I draw on integrative, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and humanistic models. This means we may work with present-day difficulties while also exploring earlier experiences and unconscious processes that influence emotions, behaviour, and self-understanding.
My work is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and inclusive.
I conduct all therapy session in English.
Areas of Experience and Focus:
I have extensive experience supporting clients with:
Anxiety, stress, low mood, and emotional overwhelm
Relationship difficulties, attachment patterns, and communication challenges
Trauma, complex life experiences, and chronic stress
Neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism (diagnosed or suspected)
Identity exploration, self-esteem, and personal development
Work-related stress, burnout, and high-pressure roles:
For over a decade, I worked in senior clinical leadership roles within the UK National Health Service (NHS), including Senior Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead positions. I am clinically trained in the diagnosis of Autism in both children and adults and have worked across Social Care, Education, Health, and private practice.
I also have significant experience supporting professionals working in high-pressure environments, including healthcare, military, police, and frontline services.
Neurodiversity-Affirming and Trauma-Informed Practice:
I work respectfully and affirmatively with neurodiverse clients, recognising both strengths and challenges. Whether you are exploring a possible diagnosis or already identify as neurodivergent, therapy is tailored to your needs, communication style, and lived experience.
My trauma-informed approach prioritises safety, choice, and pacing, ensuring therapy feels supportive, collaborative, and manageable.
Work, Leadership, and Life Transitions:
Alongside therapy, I have extensive experience in executive coaching, leadership development, and organisational psychology. I work with founders, entrepreneurs, and professionals navigating responsibility, decision-making, conflict, and organisational change.
This background allows me to support clients balancing emotional wellbeing with leadership, performance, and complex working environments.
Research, Leadership, and Community Work:
I have previously served as Chair of a mental health NGO, contributing to strategic leadership, service development, and mental health advocacy. I also collaborate with universities and international networks on training and research initiatives.
In addition, I currently support a charity by mentoring entrepreneurs and individuals in the early stages of starting and developing their own businesses, helping them build confidence, clarity, and sustainable direction.
Working Together:
At BetterHelp, I support individuals, couples seeking greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and meaningful change.
Clients often describe our work as grounding, thoughtful, and practical. If you are looking for a therapeutic space that offers depth, clarity, and compassionate challenge, I would be glad to work with you.
I warmly welcome international clients and individuals from all backgrounds, including those from marginalised or high-pressure communities.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Brett is amazing and a wonderful listener and very understanding of all issues
Great
We have never thought that BetterHelp could provide someone with the expertise and knowledge to deal with our complex needs. But Brett has really been a godsend and is fantastic. He is empathetic, he usually understand us and on those rare occasions that he doesn't, he asks relevant questions. He is very knowledgeable of complex trauma and neurodivergence and always makes us feel heard. He is very respectful of our experiences and never makes us feel bad for being so messed up. We have been traumatized in the past by therapists, and Brett has been helping us in moving forward and has been able to really get us started on our healing journey. We couldn't ask for anyone better!
Brett has helped me in the last few sessions to determine the causes and reasons for my anxieties and worries . The last session he asked pertinent questions that were thought provoking and although it’s been tough at times I feel lighter and not so lost
First time trying talk Theraphy and Brett surpassed all my expectations! Brett's genuine desire to help, professionalism and love for humanity is something I thought was long gone in the industry. I highly recommend him to anyone.
Excellent therapist, vastly experienced. I have found Brett to be a huge help to me during an incredibly difficult time in my life. It’s refreshing to have someone that listens and understands without judgment.

Brett has been the first therapist to help me go through tough times and deal with my depression. I had started to lose hope but not I am looking forward to our sessions every week and feel so happy afterwards. He knows exactly what to say to me and what questions will trigger me to think. I am grateful to have a therapist like you Brett!

A great Therapist, understanding and helpful, a deep thinker and someone who actively listens. Great potential solutions offered as well.
He is really great with understanding and listening to your needs. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with neurodivergence.
Great therapist. Very supportive and really listens and thinks about a clients individual needs.
Brett has helped me gain insight into parts of my history and neuro divergent mind that I could never have found just through ‘self-help’ or reading books. He understood my cultural nuances and was deeply empathetic, astute any practical.
Good at what he does. Observational and a good listener
Brett is a kind and gracious therapist. He is very quick with his response time and he is very present and professional. I cannot recommend him enough!
Brett is a very kind, attentive, and has many years experience in dealing with patients clinically. So far he has been the most supportive and easiest therapist to talk to!
Brett is very calm and good listener and a guide in analysing and suggesting ways to get through obstacles .
Brett has, by far and away, been the most effective and confidence inspiring therapist I've worked with. His manner of interacting is natural and questioning, he offers opinions and has a knack for getting to the core of what I'm trying to express. No other therapist has given me a sense of confidence that by working with them I will be able to uncover what's bothering me and help me gain understanding and progress through these issues. I feel very grateful to be able to work with Brett.
Brett has been amazing. These sessions have brought me a long way from where I was previously. It’s not just the comforting words, it was a journey to understand and find myself. This was one of my first therapy sessions and although I was skeptical of any change through therapy when starting I can now say differently. I highly recommend.
Brett is a great therapist. He really loves his job, he’s empathetic, a good listener and gives you the opportunity to create a link with him in the best proper way for the process of healing. He’s very professional and prepared.
An excellent therapist

Brett listens to my concerns and is empathetic to my needs. I feel comfortable talking to him and be gives me strategic advice on what to do.
Excellent therapist. Compassionate listener and kindly offers needed professional advice.
Brett is so helpful and shows me such kindness. He has been so helpful to me and has changed my outlook to help myself each day. I can’t thank him enough.
My first therapy experience and I consider myself to be very lucky to work with Brett. Sensitive, yet with a clear vision. 100% recommended
Very friendly and chatty. Have had good chats and he listens very well and gives lots of ideas back. I have felt much clarity and realise I am not crazy thanks to Brett. He Takes things very slowly. However for me personally I need more guidance and thorough help, and have learned I need get into my issues quicker rather than take a lot of my time discovering them. Would definitely recommend Brett, unless you prefer more thorough therapy work and to move along faster in your recovery rather than taking your time on it.
It was an amazing journey with Brett Garcia.
