Joanne is an excellent therapist. She has been able to identify straight away the cause of my depression and has been helping me breaking down episodes of my past which helped me answer many questions and moving on through my healing. In addition to this I have worked for a local mental health support helpline and I have experience working for one of the countries top EAP Providers providing immediate support counselling to clients experiencing a range of mental health issues and life challenges. In 2016 I also graduated from The University of Worcester with a Post Graduate Certificate in Advocacy for Victims of Sexual Violence and I have worked for four years as an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor supporting victims through the Criminal Justice System. In 2020 I qualified from the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy with a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision.

My therapeutic foundation is Person Centred I would describe myself as having an integrative approach with a keen interest in Solution Focused Therapy, Attachment and Creative Counselling.

I am an accredited member of the BACP which means I work within their ethical framework. I believe confidentiality is the key to a trusting professional working relationship. Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Despite us only having two sessions, I already feel understood and heard by Joanne. She is a great listener and always knows what to say, leaving me feeling comfortable in the flow of the conversation. She asks relevant and important questions, which are really helping me explore my perspectives on things. She is easy to get along with and has a very kind and empathetic nature and I’m very glad we were paired.
