Emily is like a warm hug wrapped in accountability. She has been so helpful. She is relaxed, completely free of judgement, flexible, and creates an environment that empowers you to grow in ways that feel appropriately challenging and safe. I especially recommend her if you are in the field of education because with her work experience, she completely understands what educators (particularly elementary) go through.

More about Emily

I am a counselor in Michigan with over 10 years of experience working with children and families in education. Throughout my career, I have partnered with families to strengthen parenting skills, navigate challenging behaviors, and develop practical strategies for managing anxiety, stress, and anger. I am passionate about helping individuals and families build healthier relationships, increase confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My experience working closely within schools gives me a unique perspective on the challenges children, parents, and educators face. I understand the demands placed on teachers and school staff, including managing classroom behaviors, supporting students' emotional needs, preventing burnout, and balancing professional responsibilities with personal well-being. I enjoy working with educators and helping them develop effective coping skills, set healthy boundaries, and find renewed fulfillment in both their personal and professional lives.

I also have a special interest in supporting mothers through the many transitions and challenges that come with parenting. Whether you are navigating the stress of raising young children, balancing work and family responsibilities, managing feelings of overwhelm, coping with anxiety, or simply trying to find time for yourself, I strive to provide a supportive and understanding space where you can feel heard and empowered. Motherhood can be rewarding, but it can also feel isolating and exhausting at times. You do not have to carry those burdens alone.

My therapy style is highly client-centered. I believe every person is worthy of respect, compassion, and empathy. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Solution-Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to tailor treatment to your unique needs and goals. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

If you are seeking Christian counseling, we can also explore how God's Word and your faith can support healing, growth, and positive change in your life.

Taking the first step toward change requires courage, and reaching out for support is an important investment in yourself and your future. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

So far I have had two sessions, and done some messaging. I find the flexibility of session to be comforting based on my mood. I also find the journal(and the ability to share it), as well as the instant messaging to be very helpful. It alleviates any anxiety I may have of being able to share my experiences. My therapist is very open and honest. My therapist listens very well and responds with respectful and appropriate things that let me know my concerns are being considered.

Reviewed August 2023

Emily is very knowledgeable and very helpful. She’s kind and it is very easy to talk to her about concerns. She suggests things that benefit the situation. I’m very glad to have met her.
