More about Sally

  • 15 years' experience
  • Female
  • NCPS

I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 15 years' experience working within counselling, wellbeing and mental health services.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling, a Diploma in Counselling, a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and postgraduate study in Criminology. I am also currently undertaking an MSc in Mental Health Psychology. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and regularly engage in professional supervision and continued professional development.

Throughout my career, I have supported people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, trauma and adverse life experiences, relationship difficulties, bereavement, substance misuse, OCD, eating-related difficulties, work pressures and major life changes.

My approach is integrative, which means I adapt the way I work to the individual rather than expecting everyone to fit one particular type of therapy. My work is grounded in Person-Centred therapy and I also draw upon CBT, psychodynamic and solution-focused approaches where appropriate.

I believe that feeling heard, understood and accepted is an important part of therapy. I aim to provide a warm, friendly and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is happening in your life, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Some people come to counselling with a very clear idea of what they would like to work on, while others simply know that something does not feel right. Either is completely okay. We can explore what is happening together and consider what might help you move forward.

I welcome clients from all backgrounds and walks of life. Above all, I see counselling as a collaborative process: you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you in understanding yourself, recognising patterns, developing new ways of coping and making changes that are meaningful to you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
