Hi, I’m Edward. If you’re feeling anxious, low, stuck, or overwhelmed, therapy can give you space to breathe and make sense of what’s happening without judgement and without pressure to “have it all figured out.”

I’m an integrative counsellor with person-centred therapy at the heart of my work. That means I’ll focus on understanding your experience as you live it, while drawing on other approaches when helpful, so our sessions fit you, not a one-size-fits-all model.

People come to me for support with anxiety, depression/low mood, relationship difficulties, and feeling disconnected from themselves. Our work can also support you to build confidence, change unhelpful patterns of thinking, strengthen resilience, and find more clarity and personal growth.

Alongside exploring the past, we’ll also focus on where you want to go, setting meaningful goals and developing practical tools for everyday life.

I have experience supporting people from all walks of life, and I continue to develop my practice through ongoing training. I volunteer as a counsellor with the NHS and local charities in Devon, and I run a private practice in Barnstaple offering in-person sessions. I also offer online counselling, including via BetterHelp, for flexible support.

I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. If you’re considering therapy, you’re welcome to reach out, starting can be the hardest part, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Approachable non judgemental rational thinker that I have found much easier to talk to than previous therapists

Thoughtful and empathetic therapist

Im only 2 sessions deep but I have started to unwrap some things that really affect me that I wasn't aware of before

I have had a huge amount of therapy in my life with a string of different therapists and Edward is my favourite. He has helped me more in a few months than any of the others over longer periods of time. I do not feel judged at all but understood, and finally feel I am benefitting from therapy. I came to him with relationship issues but the help has spilled into other areas of my life too so it’s win win for me

Edward took the time to understand what I wanted from our sessions and has helped me start to work through my thought processes.

Reviewed April 2025

Quickly Edward understood my confusion, and why I was coming into therapy. He has taken time to listen, and slowly has worked through different situations that have come up. He explains things very well and shows deep listening by having appropriate responses that create thought provoking insights.

Reviewed January 2025

Edward is a brilliant therapist, he listens to my thoughts and challenges my beliefs in a healthy and reasonable way. Each session I feel like I am being listened to and I feel like his full attention is on me the whole time. I can’t recommend him more.

Edward is friendly, easy to talk to, good listener and supportive. Would definitely recommend!

Reviewed September 2024

Edward is a kind, knowledgeable and supportive therapist who I would heartily recommend. After just 4 sessions I already feel that I am making good progress under his guidance...

Reviewed August 2024

I knew going into this that I needed the right feeling and response from a therapist if I was going to talk to them. I chose Edward after being matched with someone I didn’t think was a good suit and Edward was the only person I was willing to give a chance. If it wasn’t him, then I was out. Edward respected my insane perspectives and feelings about life, therapy, robots, accents, you name it. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Edward and felt comfortable to share some of my thoughts with him. Although I’m not continuing, it’s certainly nothing to do with Edward. I am grateful for having him over the month and took a lot from the short time spent chatting. Thanks for everything, Ed.
