**Effective July 20, 2026, I am returning as an active provider on BetterHelp for scheduled live-chat sessions and asynchronous messaging.
Hi! I’m Amber Kovach, a licensed mental health counselor in Florida and Maryland with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I have several years of clinical experience across a variety of settings, including nonprofit organizations and my own private practice. I am excited to return to BetterHelp and continue expanding access to mental health support!
My work through BetterHelp is intentionally brief, structured, and text-based. I currently provide scheduled live-chat sessions and asynchronous messaging only. This format is best suited for adults who are generally stable, comfortable expressing themselves in writing, and looking for practical support with everyday concerns.
Through BetterHelp, you can expect support with organizing your thoughts, identifying patterns, exploring options, setting realistic goals, strengthening boundaries, improving communication, and developing practical coping or executive-functioning strategies. Sessions are collaborative and solution-focused, with an emphasis on clarity, reflection, accountability, and manageable next steps.
Services with me through BetterHelp are not intended for crisis management, intensive trauma processing, formal psychological evaluations, legal documentation, frequent emotional support throughout the day, or concerns requiring a higher level of care. Asynchronous messages are not monitored continuously and may be addressed during a scheduled live-chat session rather than answered immediately.
My work through BetterHelp may be more focused and limited in scope than counseling with Amber- that’s me- in other professional settings. Sessions may feel similar to structured therapeutic check-ins centered on a specific concern, goal, or next step as I do not offer video or audio appointments through BetterHelp at this time.
I often work with adults experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, communication difficulties, boundary-setting challenges, ADHD, Autism, executive-functioning concerns, and personal-growth goals. I provide neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQIA+-affirming care.
I may be a good fit if you are looking for a warm, straightforward therapist who can help you reflect, gain perspective, and identify practical next steps. I may not be the best fit if you are seeking intensive treatment, extensive open-ended processing, immediate responses, video or phone sessions, or significant between-session support.
To protect your privacy and maintain clear professional boundaries, please use BetterHelp for all communication related to your care. External websites and social media accounts are not monitored for clinical messages, scheduling, emergencies, or therapeutic support, and I cannot respond to communication outside BetterHelp’s platform.
To schedule a session, please message me through BetterHelp with your general availability. We can then determine whether my services and format are a good match for your needs.
I look forward to connecting with you!

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
