Hi. My name is Joanne. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Signing up for therapy takes courage, so well done for taking this first step.
I am an accredited member of the BACP, with seven years of professional work experience. I have NHS experience and this involved working with a variety of therapeutic issues and with people across a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
I am trained in both psychotherapy and CBT. The latter being particularly effective for treating anxiety. I am also qualified to work with depression using Person Centred Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), which is evidenced based and endorsed by the NHS. I am also trained to work with relationship issues, as well as with bereavement and loss.
In our first session together we can discuss your unique and specific needs. CBT is fairly structured since it involves weekly homework and the gathering of evidence. After one or two initial diagnostic sessions, CBT consists of a set number of sessions based on a treatment plan that we formulate together. Given the nature of CBT, I can only offer CBT via video sessions. In comparison, psychotherapeutic counselling is less structured, and this tends to be more open-ended. The discussion in counselling sessions is directed by you and I will follow your lead. I can offer counselling via video, phone or instant messaging. In all cases I will suggest somatic exercises to help you to bring your nervous system into balance.
Regardless of whether we decide to work with CBT and/or counselling, continuity is incredibly important for successful therapeutic outcomes. We can agree on weekly or fortnightly sessions in our first session together. However, scientific evidence suggests that meeting regularly is key. Change does not occur overnight and therefore patience and faith are important to facilitate purposeful development and growth.
So if you're willing to make this commitment, and you're ready to build a pathway to a brighter and more peaceful future, then together we can find a way...

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
