Ivy Meadow is responsive and engaged in my issues. She is accommodating with schedule times and never is in a rush to end the session. Ivy is supportive of my goals and I always feel better after speaking with her.

I started therapy with Ivy after having lukewarm experiences with other betterhelp providers although I did learn from each provider, Ivy has given me so many practical suggestions that I have undertaken to great benefit. I also appreciate that Ivy takes notes and sends me what we've talked about and the suggestions that we came up with together. it's so helpful not to have to take my own notes! I'm seeing Ivy for three issues that are very difficult for me. Long-term addiction, issues since childhood with my now 90-year-old mother and the horrible death from cancer of my 32-year-old son. Ivy is a great listener, and never tries to assume she knows what's best or implies she knows what I'm going through. Ivy respects my feelings as my own. I really love the creativity she brings to problem solving and that she acknowledges how hard I am working to find solutions and support. Thank you for having Ivy Meadow as a therapist on your platform. I also appreciate that Ivy is always professional, on time, and flexible in scheduling.

More about Ivy

  • 4 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

I am a strengths based counselor with a variety of experiences working in human services over the course of thirty+ years.

I have been a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Occupational Therapy Assistant, an Activity Therapist, a Disability Program Navigator, a benefits planning specialist...and more.

I am a bit of an existentialist, believing that we have a chance now to improve our futures, regardless of what our pasts have been.

I am interested in compassion fatigue, and believe strongly in self-care as a strategy for successful living.

I have an inclusive approach. I treat people with respect and compassion. I value diversity.

More about my approach:

I encourage everyone to develop a set of self care skills.

In general, I believe people do better in life if they get adequate rest, avoid alcohol and drugs, get exercise and fresh air, eat properly, learn and practice mindfulness activities, kick back with activities they enjoy, and limit exposure to trauma in their everyday lives.

I encourage creative expression of emotions, such as painting, drawing, journaling, singing, dancing...and more.

I encourage people to turn their attention toward that which they can do something about, which is pretty much themselves and their own reactions to things and their own behavior.

I acknowledge the role trauma plays in our lives.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage. I am glad you are starting the process!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Ivy is a great listener and so easy to talk to. She has a super chill vibe that feels authentic and professional. She's my first online therapist but I have seen in-person therapists on and off since my teenage years and despite only having one session and several messages with Ivy so far, I can tell she will be a wonderful help to me.
