More about Janice

  • 10 years' experience
  • Female
  • PsyD

I have extensive experience with panic attacks, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and mild to moderate depression. The majority of our day-to-day behaviors can be best described as being on autopilot which means they occur more so automatically without our conscious effort. This process can be efficient but some parts can also cause us distress. My approach to therapy includes building awareness of distressing thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns that are part of this autopilot process and replacing them intentionally with more adaptive patterns. This helps create and strengthen new neural pathways in the brain. I utilize tools and teachings from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, and other approaches to empower clients to have a better understanding of how the changes they are making are also creating everlasting changes in their brain. I believe practice makes progress and permeance because there is no such thing as perfection.

I take a biopsychosocial approach toward understanding my clients. I support my client's understanding of the biological, psychological, and social factors that are affecting them and together we will create changes that target each of these areas.
