More about Alberdina

  • 18 years' experience
  • Female

I completed my (Applied Psychology) degree in the Netherlands and have 18 years of professional experience in mental health care, working with people of all ages in various roles.

In my work, I have experience supporting, guiding, and coaching people dealing with challenges related to trauma, stress, anxiety, anger/emotion regulation, motivation, meaning in life, and self-worth. I have worked within complex (forensic) psychiatry, as well as with individuals facing less severe challenges within the context of normal development and daily life.

Stories, I believe, play an important role in people’s lives. I see you as the expert of your own story, and I believe it is important that your story is told and that it is acknowledged and heard.

I feel honored and find it meaningful to be there for you as you navigate the questions and challenges in your life, to listen, and to stand beside you using the tools I have. I work in an integrative way, which allows me to adapt to you and to what arises during our sessions. Key values in my approach include safety, confidentiality, openness, and creativity.

Starting this inner journey can be a significant step, as much may have happened and been tried before this moment. Finding a professional who is a good fit can sometimes be a challenge in itself.

I consider it important to pay attention to this at the start and I look forward to exploring together which steps best support your journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
