Gregg Palmer MA, PG Dip, BSc Hons, ACA, Counsellor and Psychotherapist

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist with an extensive knowledge of working with adults undergoing stress, trauma and crises.

I work within a leading edge relational, embodied and psychospiritual context, primarily focused on the unconscious informed by transference and countertransference dynamics.

I specialise in working with deep trauma and am skilled at tolerating difficult states, such as profound despair, that, for example, intense self hatred can lead us to. When we lose our own value and meaning in life we can spiral into a black hole. Having a skilled ‘other’ with us in those times, that knows such landscape well, can make a world of difference.

That said, there is no problem that is too small, as everything is relative. Many people feel their suffering is not deserving enough of counselling. This is one of the greatest myths of all.

I have special expertise with the following but if your issue is not listed below please contact me to discuss if I can help:

Addiction / Anger Management / Relationship Issues / Work Related Issues / Acute Stress and/or Anxiety / Sexuality and Sexual Issues / Identity Issues / Bereavement and Loss / Depression / Spirituality And Meditation / Lack Of Confidence / Manic Depression / Bipolar Disorder / Generalised Anxiety Disorder / Identity Crisis / Spiritual Crises / Low Self-Esteem / Panic Attacks / Suicidal Feelings / Self-Harm / Feelings Of Terror

Qualifications

I hold a BSc Degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling (PGDip), and a Masters in Psychotherapy (MA), the latter two being validated by the University of East London and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherpay (BACP).

Training

I trained at the Psychosynthesis Trust and am a level 3 member of ACA. The latter professional body employs a strict code of ethics to ensure the highest standards of practice.

My psychosynthesis training was integrative (drawing from all schools of psychology) and I have a tendency toward depth oriented psychotherapy.

Other Work

In addition to my private practice I have been Clinical Director of a counselling placement service allowing me to work within a multi-disciplinary team over a range of approaches.

I also periodically assisted in psychosynthesis training supporting high quality training programmes for counsellors and psychotherapists.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
