I have been a practicing licensed clinical social worker for many years with experience working with adults, youth and children as a therapist, crisis clinician, case manager and program director. I enjoy making a connection, helping people get unstuck and work through their problems. And I'm pretty good at it, so that helps.
When I meet with someone for the first time, I like to focus on what the current situation and get some background information to better understand the context. I try to think about how I would feel in a similar situation and figure out together what would be helpful.
My training is psychodynamic though I like to use cognitive behavioral techniques to help understand the interplay between our thoughts, feelings and actions. I am DBT certified and committed to the principles of trauma-informed care in all of my work.
